Ye nations hear th' immortal tale--
Tho' armies press, tho' fleets assail,
Tho' vengeful war's collected stores,
At once united Bourbon pours--

(This is a genuine ode. It is extracted from the London
Magazine, of Jan. 1783. --The poet Laureat in England is
appointed by the crown, and receives a settled salary. --The
ode for the new year is always set to music, and performed
at the court of St. James's in the presence of his Majesty.
